Description

Version:

High-performance micro pilot drill in two versions for general-purpose use on material, focussing on the machining of steel. Drilling and piloting can be performed in a wide range of applications, even on sloping or curved surfaces. Maximum process reliability due to exactly matching tools within the overall system. Optimum compromise between core diameter and flute size for optimum chip evacuation – even with long-chipping materials.

Note:

For reliable use of micro-drills as from 8×D, a pilot hole of at least 2×D is required using the micro stepped pilot drill No. 121222 or at least 4xD using the micro pilot drill No. 121223. For vertical machining and flat workpiece surfaces, a pilot hole can be dispensed with from DC = ⌀ 1 mm up to a length of 12×D. Please always ensure that the pilot hole is free from chips before using the subsequent drilling tool. We recommend setting a 90° counterbore with a suitable NC spotting drill after the pilot hole has been completed. The stepped pilot drill No. 121222 enables piloting and countersinking to be done in a single step. For critical applications (e.g. highest possible production accuracy, minimal burr formation, reduced coolant pressure), reduce the feed rate of the tool by 50% before entering and exiting the material. Long-chipping materials may require chips to be evacuated in steps by moving the drill back.
Please make sure that you use a suitable tool clamping device (shrink-fit chuck, hydraulic chuck) with a radial run-out
of less than 0.003 mm.
Stepped pilot drill with 160° point angle and reinforced design for direct drilling/piloting on sloping and curved surfaces up to a maximum angle of 50°, as well as for drilling and 90° countersinking on straight surfaces in one step.
