Description

Description:

  • With flap disc sanders, the abrasive flaps are arranged on a backing in a radial fan shape around the axis of the tool.
  • Thanks to their flexibility, they adapt perfectly to the contours of the workpiece.
  • The abrasive grain is embedded in a synthetic resin bond on the tension-resistant, flexible cloth backing.
  • Flap wheels are listed in ISO 3919 under the designation ”flap wheels”.
  • For universal use from coarse to fine sanding.
  • PFERD TOOLS-ERGONOMICS recommends flap disc sanders in order to sustainably reduce the vibration and noise generated during use and to improve working comfort.

Feature:

  • Max. RPM: 12700 RPM
  • RPM, opt: 6300 RPM
  • Width metric: 20 mm
  • Abrasive: Aluminium oxide A
  • ø outer metric: 60 mm
  • Ø shank metric: 6 mm
  • Grit size: 40
  • Length, shank: 40 mm

Advantage:

  • Optimum contour adaptation thanks to high flexibility
  • Consistently high material removal over the entire service life, as new, aggressive abrasive is constantly released
  • Can be used very close to edges and at angles thanks to the flat casting core design.

Application:

  • Recommendations for use: Reducing the contact pressure and peripheral speed and adding grinding oil reduce tool wear and the temperature load on the workpiece. The stock removal rate should be increased by using a coarser grit and not by increasing the contact pressure in order to prevent unnecessary tool wear and thermal stress on the workpiece. Increasing the cutting speed results in a slightly finer surface finish. Increasing the contact pressure results in a slightly coarser surface. The softer the material to be processed, the coarser the surface (when using the same grit sizes). For best performance, use at a recommended cutting speed of 15-20 m/s. This achieves an ideal compromise between stock removal rate, surface quality, temperature load on the workpiece and tool wear. Use a suitable grinding oil for the material to significantly increase the service life and grinding performance of the tools.
  • Machining tasks: Deburring; fine grinding in stages; levelling; structuring (matting, line matting and satin finishing); surface processing; weld seam processing
  • Drive types: Flexible shaft drive; Straight grinder

Material:

  • Machinable materials:
    • Aluminium
    • Malleable cast iron
    • brass
    • Cast steel
    • Copper
    • Grey/spheroidal cast iron (GG/GJL, GGG/GJS)
    • Hardened, tempered steels over 1,200 N/mm² (< 38 HRC)
    • Stainless steel (INOX)
    • Steel materials with a hardness > 54 HRC
    • Steels up to 1,200 N/mm² (< 38 HRC)

Note:

  • For safety reasons, the specified maximum permissible speed must never be exceeded.
  • The contact pressure must be significantly reduced if the specified optimum speed is exceeded.
  • Safety is only guaranteed if the clamping length is at least 15 mm and the specified maximum speed for open shank lengths is not exceeded.
