Description:
Provide shielding for cable joints on shielded power cables with Scotch® Electrical Shielding Tape 24. Our tape is oil, fire and corrosion resistant and because of its construction, it interlocks with the previous layer for a tighter wrap – so no solder bead is required. It stretches easily to conform to irregular surfaces and is unaffected by moisture, ozone, solvents and UV. Featuring tinned copper wires, it remains stable at elevated temperatures and its porosity will permit complete resin saturation when splicing. Scotch® Electrical Shielding Tape 24 has an indefinite storage life. Due to its open-weave knit construction, the tape will not telescope while on the roll. It can be checked for electrical resistance with an ohm meter. Probes touching the surface one foot apart should measure .092 ohms or less. The tape is not impaired by freezing or by over-heated conditions.
Advantage:
- Tinned copper, flat, open-weave shielding mesh
- Resistant to oil, fire and corrosion
- Unaffected by moisture, ozone, solvents and UV
- Stretches easily to conform to irregular surfaces
- Remains stable at elevated temperatures
- Tape porosity permits complete saturation when splicing
Recommendation:
- Provide shielding for cable joints on shielded power cables
- Make the conductive portion of the stress cone on power cable terminations
- Smooth connector area in oil-filled cables
