The new GARANT Master Steel solid carbide drill is designed for universal use with a range of different steel and cast materials.

With GARANT Master Steel, the Hoffmann Group opens up a new performance class for double-edged solid carbide drills

10 Sept 2024

With its GARANT Master Steel solid carbide drill, the Hoffmann Group has opened up a new performance class in high performance machining of steel. In a product test, the double-edged universal tool achieved with its characteristic convex cutting edge geometry (S-cutting edge) up to 30 percent higher stock removal rates and almost double the tool life of comparable GARANT and competitor products. The GARANT Master Steel SPEED, which set new records in terms of metal removal rate and tool life back in 2016 along with the GARANT Master Steel FEED, was also outperformed. However, the GARANT Master Steel SPEED remains the tool of choice if the highest possible metal removal rate is to be achieved with the lowest possible cutting forces at a significantly higher cutting speed. The new GARANT Master Steel solid carbide drill is now available in the Hoffmann Group online shop at www.hoffmann-group.com and in the 2024/2025 digital flip catalogue.

The robust GARANT Master Steel solid carbide drill owes its exceptional performance to a convex cutting edge geometry with an optimised special pointed tip, which ensures the best possible chip formation and reliable chip breakage even at high feed rates. The main cutting edge is also stabilised by advanced micro-geometry, and a relieved cone. Thanks to an optimised flute geometry, chip evacuation is fast and reliable, on a wide range of different steel and cast materials. The chip flow is supported by an ultra-smooth latest generation TiAIN high performance coating, which also effectively protects the drill from process heat.

The GARANT Master Steel solid carbide drill is available as standard with a diameter range from 3 to 20 millimetres in 4xD versions with or without internal cooling, and 6xD with internal cooling. For drill holes with diameters of 0.8 to 3 millimetres the Hoffmann Group recommends using the GARANT Master Steel MICRO solid carbide micro-drill, while for machines that require lower cutting forces, the GARANT Master Steel SPEED represents an excellent alternative
for achieving high metal removal rates through high cutting speeds. The absolute hightest metal removal rate can be achieved with the GARANT Master Steel FEED, which also has a significant increase in tool life thanks to the third cutting edge.

The GARANT Master product range was launched by the Hoffmann Group in 2015 with the aim of providing particularly powerful and reliable tools for high-performance cutting. Since then, GARANT Master tools have opened up new performance classes. The product range now comprises a wide range of high-performance tools for classic metal cutting applications such as drilling, milling and thread tapping in various materials, including steel, aluminium and stainless steel. As such, the Hoffmann Group can offer the perfect tool for almost any application.
